City Of Wasilla Forty yea rs ago, the crowded st retch of high way that we no w know as "Wasilla" was a blinking yellow light on the Parks Highway. This was the spot where the Carle Wagon Trail between Knik and Hatcher Pass crossed the railroad track. In the mid -1970 's, Wasil- la was about as imposing as Willow, north of Wasilla, is today. In 1975, w he n the Tran s-Alaska Pip eline was being con structed and new wealth was entering the state, Wasilla became increasingly appealing to incoming Alas kans .
