Denali National Park is not like other areas of Alaska. Everything is regulated, to keep the wilderness "wild."
How To Get Around In The Park Denali Park has an elaborate bus system, and you'll have to use it to get beyond Mile 15 on the Park Road. The reason for this is to keep Denali and its animals wild. The entrance area has free courtesy buses. Courtesy shuttle buses will take you all the way to Savage River. To get beyond Savage River, you will have to buy a ticket at the Bus Depot. See a list of bus fares and destinations on page 42. You can drive the first 15 miles of the Park Road to Savage River in your own vehicle.

Sled Dog Demonstration Free bus departs Mile 1, Park Road 3 times a day to the Park Kennels. lOam, 2pm, 4pm .
Campfire Programs Ranger led pro gram s at select Denali Park campgrounds every night. Check th e bulletin board s at th e park.
Savage River Area Mile 13-15, Park Road Private vehicles can dri ve here, or take free Savage River courtesy bus. Rest rooms. Two mile trail. Often windy. Sheepviewing.Stay on thetrails.
Hiking Several options in the entrance area. Check at the busdepot bulletin board and visitor centers for ideas.
Taking The Bus Mile 1, Park Road In the middle of summer, you may have to call ahead or wait a day once you're in the park region.
Park Movie Mile 1.5, Park Road Award-winning film called "Heartbeats of Denali" at Denali Visitor Center.
Backcountry Information Mile 1.5, Park Road The Backcountry Information Center has moved to the Denali Visito r Cente r at Mile 1.5. Mandatory inform ation and permits for backcountry camping.
