FAIRBANKS
NORTHERN LIGHTS TOURISTS
You might not think the cold, dark days of winter would be the beginning of tourist season in Fairbanks. But visitors from across the world flock here for a chance to see the aurora borealis. In northern latitudes like Fairbanks, the aurora is visible high above the horizon. During clear winter nights, the aurora is easily seen. Visitors come to town in midwinter, and are bused to viewing sites, while wearing special cold weather gear.
