Homer Spit
Homer reaches out to sea on the 5-mile long Homer Spit. A good bike trail along the Spit Road lets you enjoy the views of old boat yards and homes along the spit. In some areas, local people have embedded large spruce trees up- side-down in the sand. Bald eagles come to roost on the bare tree roots. The spit ends at the ferry dock and you can walk on the beach in the warm summer breeze. Many businesses have booths on the spit, where you can sign up for just about any activity, from bear viewing to fishing or air charters.

There's a lot of camping potential in Homer, from the RV Parks to more informal camping and tenting along the Homer Spit.
Small Boat Harbor
Along the Homer Spit is the scenic harbor. Take a walk along the harbor and sight-see the many small boats and sailboats that make up the heart of the Homer maritime community. Larger vessels (including fishing boats featured on "Deadliest Catch") dock nearby.
