POINT
Beautiful sunset views and fishing.
WESTERN HIGHWAY POINT
Like most of the lower Sterling Highway, the small town of Anchor Point is chock full of scenic viewpoints of the Western Cook Inlet mountain range. The Anchor Point State Recreation Area has a nice combination of beach and river views.
Anchor Point is also as far west as you can drive on a connected roadway in the United States. Ifyou drove to Alaska you 'll probably want to take a picture with the "North America's Most Westerly Highway Point" sign. Alaska itself extends even farther west, accessi- ble by boat or plane.
ACTIVE
RANGE
Across the deep wa- ters of Cook Inlet are the mountains of Western Alaska . Mt. Spurr and Mt.llliama, easily visi- ble on clear evenings, are active volca- noes in the Pacific Ring Of Fire.
