THE STERLING HIGHWAY
The Sterling Highway runs 138 miles west of the Seward High- way, from the Cooper Landing area to Homer. The Sterling High- way follows the mighty Kenai River to the towns of Soldotna and Kenai. Then , following the coast of Cook Inlet, the Sterling Highway heads farther southwest, past the towns of Ninilchik and Anchor Point, until the highway ends in Homer on Kache- mak Bay. The Sterling Highway mileage starts with mile marker 37 at Tern Lake Junction.
KENAI PENINSULA EXPLORATION
The Sterling Highway takes you across the Kenai Peninsula to
the shores of Cook Inlet. Towns along Cook Inlet are small and
charming, located in a mild maritime climate with plenty of
sunny weather. The Kenai Peninsula is known worldwide as a
fishing hotspot with saltwater, river and lake fishing. You can do
more than fish , though - and camping, hiking, rafting, kayaking
and bear viewing are popular with tourists and Alaskans.
