Easy, Family-Friendly Hike
The half-mile Mountain Vista Trail, near Savage River Campground at Mile 13 on the Denali Park Road , is a terrific place to hike if your time is short, or you have a free afternoon or morning. You can drive to the trailhead, so that's a real plus. You don 't need a bus to access this and other simple entrance area hikes.
For trail access, park your car at the Mountain Vista Day Use Area. Mountain Vista Trail is a lovely, easy, looped trail with views of the Alaska Range . The trail is full of interpretive signs, with photos of days gone by, and stories showing what Denali 's visitors used to do when they stayed back here overnight in tent camps. Small hikes like this one are well worth the trip.
