Headed To Denali Trapper Creek is a small com- munity north of Talkeetna Junction. Located near the for- mer mining district of Peters- ville, Trapper Creek is home to dramatic views of Denali. The Susitna River and Petersville Roads intersect with the Parks Highway here.
Log Cabin History The Trapper Creek area goes back to a time before the construction of the Parks Highway. Back in the 1930's, Trapper Creek was a mining town. In the 1950 's, a group of Detroit homesteaders moved here, calling themselves "The 5gers." Trapper Creek was settled before the Parks
Highway was built. There was no bridge, so settlers had to travel to their homesteads either by barge or over the winter ice from Talkeetna.
