TALKEETNA
VISIT THE LOCAL MUSEUM The Talkeetna Historical Society has bolted information to the outside of many of the town's historic buildings. You can wander up and down the town's streets and read about who owned the buildings, and how they were used. Visitthe museum in the old red school building on 0 Street. This former school was built in 1936 and is now full of displays about Talkeetna's history.
CENTER OF TOWN Talkeetna is a small little town. Main Street in particular is a mix of all types of traffic. To help stop congestion, there is new RV parking at Northern Susitna Institute, or beside the museum, with no overnight parking. This town is best seen on foot, and was built back in the day before 3D-foot campers. So park outside the town center, and tour Talkeetna walking or biking. Do your part to reduce traffic, and you'll help make Talkeetna more fun and accessible for everyone.
LEARN WHAT'S HAPPENING
While in Talkeetna, stop to check out signs, bill- boards, and photographs on the walls of various restaurants and cafes. They tell the story of Tal- keetna in a unique and personal way. You'll get directions, learn about local life, daily events, childrens' activities, and things people buy and sell.
TALKEETNA RANGER STATION The Walter Harper Talkeetna Ranger station is located on B Street, in Talkeetna. This is where climbers go for education before tackling Denali. The station is also open to the public.
