The Talkeetna Spur Road starts at Mile 99 of the Parks Highway. Drive 14 miles to reach Talkeetna.
Climbing Town Talkeetna is a railroad town that was isolated from the road system for many years. It has served for decades as a staging area for Denali climbers. The town has an active social life, and a strong sense of community. People here love to celebrate the Alas- kan lifestyle.
Off The Parks Highway To getto Talkeetna, turn off the Parks Highway at Mile 99 and drive 14 miles north on the Talkeetna Spur Road. The area near the Talkeetna Junction is often referred to as Sunshine, and there are local business- es here, including restaurants and gas. The road to Talkeetna is paved. Don't forget to view Denali at the pullout at Mile 13 ofthe Talkeetna Spur Road.
