COPPER CENTER
ASHBY MUSEUM The small log museum in Copper Cen- ter has several historic cabins that dis- play objects left from the great Copper Valley Gold Rush of 1898. Many ofthese tools, personal goods, old food cans and bottles and other late 19th centu- ry items were left behind at the end of Klutina Glacier or along the route, and retrieved by local residents who donat- ed them to the museum.
FISHING THE KLUTINA RIVER The Richardson Highway crosses the Klutina River at Mile 100.
The Klutina River is a famous and accessible salmon stream, whose confluence with the Copper River is at Copper Cen- ter. Take the loop road to the old Klutina River bridge, and in- quire there. Klutina red salmon fishing is world class. There are strict regulations and limits.
