Two Downtown Areas
Seward is a good place to spend a long summer day, in town or on the water. You can easily drive here from Anchorage, and stay the night - or make Seward a day trip. Seward has two main downtown areas - a harbor area on Resurrection Bay at the entrance to town, and an older downtown section with historic buildings, shops and restaurants. Mount Marathon looms over Seward, and this mountain is the home of a foot race every Fourth of July. Popular destinations for adven- ture in Seward also include Lowell Point, the Alaska Sea Life Center, and Exit Glacier.
