The Kenai Peninsula starts 52 miles south of Anchorage on the Seward Highway.
Welcome To The Kenai Peninsula
As you head south on the Seward Highway past Portage and Hope, you'll reach Turnagain Pass (Mile 68). Here, in the high mountain pass, the Seward Highway leaves Turnagain Arm and enters a new region, the Kenai Peninsula. There are two main highways on the Kenai: the Seward Highway and the Sterling Highway.
Seward Highway
The Seward Highway travels south from Anchorage down along the coast of Turnagain Arm. Then , the highway head s into the high mountains of Turnagain Pass. At Tern Lake Junc- tion, travelers continue sout h on the Sewa rd Highway to reach the historic fishing town of Seward, or turn west to reach the Sterling Highway, leading to Cooper Landing and the rest of the Kenai Peninsula.
Turnagain Pass Mile 68 Seward Hwy Turnagain Pass is a scenic mountain pass on the Seward Highway that climbs uphill on a relatively	st raight	road . There's a rest area at Mile 68 with pullouts on both sides of the highway. Turnagain Pass is used
extensively in winter for skiing and snowmobiling.

Hope (Turn at mile 56)

Sterling Highway - Tern Lake (Mile 37)
Intersection of Sterling and Seward High- ways. South to Seward on the Seward Hwy. West to Homer on the Sterling Hwy.
